      SERVICES

Providing Produce to Those Who Hunger

Growing Community Garden invites community members to "forage" and harvest garden produce at no cost. Guests are encouraged to select fruits, berries and vegetables to meet household needs, weigh the selections, record the selections by name and weight and offer contact information as able to receive announcements of new harvest options, or events planned for the garden community, or related opportunities in the wider Kalamazoo community. Of course, free will donations are always appreciated.

      Welcoming Volunteers to Gardening

Growing Community Garden always welcomes those looking to practice gardening skills, learn new skills, do gardening in fellowship with neighbors and serve as community service volunteers. Volunteering in the garden occurs from early spring through late fall through all phases of prepping, planting, tending, weeding, irrigating, harvesting and readying the garden for winter. A full range of skills can be engaged from light activities like painting or labeling to more physically demanding tasks like putting up plant support structures or heavy duty weeding. Scheduling options can often be accommodated.

      Growing Community Through Gardening

Our name says it well . . . "Growing Community" Garden. As we connect with each other we become friends and neighbors seeking the best for one another. Growing Community Garden hosts a variety of events, including times of planning, celebration, mental health refreshment, and teaching/learning around nutrition, health, cooking, preservation and even unique approaches to gardening.
